One of the advantages of my work in the music industry is that I get to work with some of the greatest artists in the business, some of whom are also my idols.

Till Brönner is definitely one of them. He is an artist for whom I have the utmost respect and who has been a strong influence and inspiration for me for more than two decades.

I appreciate his extensive knowledge of the music business and the fact that he has done a great deal to make jazz accessible to a wider audience. He is approachable, yet still unrivaled on the trumpet and flugelhorn. He has mastered the many facets of our instrument and has had an unmistakable personal sound since a young age.

In addition to his love of music and jazz in particular, he also works as a photographer, which is another of my interests. He is also a producer and lecturer and always works with the best artists for his music. This also applies to the concert in this small but exquisite series that I co-organize. For many years, the bassist Dieter Ilg has been one of the most outstanding German musicians. Even though I first got to know him as the author of his gastronomic column “Jazzcooks” in the magazine JazzThing, in which he documents his culinary excursions with musicians.
